Ceramic Coatings

What Is a Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating in simple terms is a shield for your vehicle. Think of a very shiny, durable, hydrophobic shield all over your cars paint. It protects against grime sticking to the paint, swirls, scratches, and much more! It keeps your car looking fresh and new for YEARS if maintained!

How do I know a ceramic coating is right for me?

Ceramic coatings are an amazing at protecting and making your car look and feel beautiful, but there is some compromises that go along with that. Not using drive through carwashes is the largest one. Carwashes dramatically reduce the effectiveness and longevity of the coating. More info in FAQ.

Peas In a Pod Process

Exterior wash

We always start our process with a basic wash, getting everything we can off of the paint before getting more detailed with the clean.

decontamination

Using a combo of clay bars and specialty chemicals, any and all contaminants that are embedded in the paint will be removed, giving us a perectly clean surface to work with.

Machine polish

Once the paint is perfectly clean, we begin the machine polish process, removing as much oxidation and small swirling as possible, getting the paint to a glossy, almost new state. This is not veiwed as a paint correction but more of an enhancment

application

The coating it self is the last thing to go onto the paint, encapsulating the glossy, clean, slick paint.

Why Peas In a Pod instead of others?

The average cost of a ceramic coating in Whatcom count is ~$1500 - $3000 depending on where you go. This is largely due to requiring a full paint correction, that potentially takes a couple of days to preform.

We are in and out of your driveway in a handful of hours for a result that is not that different to a regular person, and at a much lower starting cost

Frequently Asked Questions

There are 3 main benefits of getting a coating that we think of (no particular order):

1- Very hydrophobic, protecting your paint from water spotting, and making it easier to clean and dry.

2- Very durable, protecting against swirls and small scratches.

3- Makes your paint very glossy, and clean looking with minimal effort for a very long period of time.

Time can very depending on the job, like how dirty the vehicle is, and much more. If we are doing it without the interior detail it is about 5-6 hours, and with a full detail it in an all day event.

It is advised to keep the car dry and stationary for at least 24 hours after application for the best results.

It does require somewhat of a lifestyle change to last and preform as intended.

  • Avoiding drive through carwashes, as they deteriorate the coatings properties over time, dramatically affecting its life span and proficiency.
  • Depending how often you drive, it does need a booster to "rehydrate" every now and again. The more you drive, the more you need to clean & boost.
  • If you choose to maintain it yourself, your wash method matters. Improper washing could damage and deteriorate the coating quickly.
